The much-anticipated clash between Shah Rukh Khan’s “Dunki” and Prabhas’ “Salaar” at the box office is still very much on, despite rumors suggesting otherwise. The makers of “Salaar” are eagerly awaiting the audience’s reaction to this high-stakes face-off.
Initially, there were speculations that Prabhas’ “Salaar” might be rescheduled to avoid a direct competition with “Dunki,” but we can now confirm that the clash is happening as planned.
“Salaar Part 1: Ceasefire,” directed by the renowned KGF filmmaker Prashanth Neel, is set to hit theaters on December 22, a date that was already reserved for Rajkumar Hirani’s “Dunki.” This clash had generated considerable buzz and left industry experts pondering the outcome. However, recent buzz suggested that “Salaar” might be postponed to March 2024.
Upon reaching out to industry insiders, these speculations were promptly dismissed. They confirmed that “Salaar” will indeed be released on its scheduled date, December 22, with the film’s creators working on a robust strategy to tackle the head-to-head battle.
One trade expert explained, “There are a lot of rumors about ‘Salaar’ getting pushed. And there is no truth in that. The film will be released as planned, which is December 22. The film is getting a lot of buzz because of the clash with Shah Rukh Khan’s film, and they don’t want to hamper that by pushing the release.”
Another trade expert added, “The rumor is just to add to the buzz. They are not postponing the film. In fact, I met the whole team recently; they have already devised a strong strategy to support the film to counter the clash and are working towards the trailer launch. Everyone on the team believes in Prabhas and his market value, which is why they are looking forward to the clash. They are optimistic that the film will work.”
A source from the production house, speaking on the condition of anonymity, also affirmed, “There is no question of postponing the film. It will be released as planned. The whole team is excited about the clash and wants to see how the audience reacts to it. They are confident it will bring in significant numbers for them.”
