The NPTEL – GATE portal, hosted by the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT M), has witnessed a remarkable surge in registrations, with over 50,700 enthusiastic participants.
This innovative platform offers access to previous years’ questions (PYQs) spanning from 2007 to 2022, encompassing more than 16 years of GATE exam topics. Between August 2022 and February 2023, students actively engaged in 115 mock tests covering six key subjects: Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electronics and Communication, Physics, and Chemistry.
The ongoing semester, which commenced on October 15, has already witnessed the completion of 19 mock tests across seven subjects. These include the previously mentioned six subjects as well as Biotechnology. Additionally, the portal hosts live sessions, with 3,975 students participating in 521 phase one sessions and 3,321 students in 367 phase two sessions, while phase three live sessions are currently in progress.
The National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL) is a collaborative effort involving various IITs, including IIT Madras and IISc, Bengaluru. The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is a prestigious national-level examination designed to assess candidates’ comprehensive understanding of various undergraduate-level subjects in Engineering, Technology, Science, Architecture, and Humanities. In the year 2023, approximately 7 lakh students registered for the GATE exam, with around one lakh students successfully qualifying, underscoring the significance of this endeavor.
