JEE Main 2024: Important Changes to Consider Before Registration

The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2024 registration is currently open and will continue until November 30, 2023. The engineering entrance exam, JEE Main, will be conducted in two phases. The first phase is scheduled from January 24 to February 1, 2024, with the next session taking place between April 1 and April 15.

Several changes have been introduced for JEE Main 2024 by the National Testing Agency (NTA). Here are five key changes to keep in mind before applying:

1. **JEE Main New Website:** The official website for JEE Main 2024 has been updated to jeemain.nta.ac.in, replacing the previous jeemain.nta.nic.in. The new website provides a chatbox to assist students and will serve as the primary source for JEE Main-related information, including dates, notifications, admit cards, and results.

2. **Registration through ABC, DigiLocker:** During JEE Main 2024 registration, candidates have the option to create a DigiLocker account via the NAD portal or use an Academic Bank of Credits ID (ABC ID). Candidates not opting for DigiLocker/ABC ID registration must arrive at the examination center one hour prior to the designated entry time on the exam day. Alternatively, candidates can use their passport number, PAN Card number, or Aadhaar enrollment number for registration, but this would require them to arrive early at the exam center.

3. **Number of Exam Cities:** The number of JEE Main 2024 exam cities in India has been reduced to 300, down from 304 in the previous year.

4. **JEE Main 2024 Syllabus:** The JEE Main 2024 syllabus has undergone revisions. Some chapters have been completely removed from this year’s syllabus, and a few sub-topics have been omitted.

5. **JEE Main Application Fee:** The NTA has decreased the JEE Main application fee. Previously, male candidates in the General, General-EWS, and OBC (NCL) categories were required to pay Rs 1,000 as the application fee, while female candidates in these categories had to pay Rs 800. Now, for male candidates in the General-EWS and OBC NCL categories, the JEE Main 2024 application fee is reduced to Rs 900.
