Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra asserted on Friday that the Ethics Committee’s recommendation for her expulsion from Lok Sabha is driven by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “desperation” to conceal the alleged coal scam involving the Adani group. She claims that the government aims to suppress anyone raising concerns about this issue.
Moitra, entangled in the “cash for query” controversy, emphasized the challenge of preventing lawmakers from addressing questions in the House.
“Adani has a Rs 13,000 crore coal scam. In any other country, this would have brought down the government. Mr. Modi deep in his heart knows this. So they are desperate to keep this hidden as long as possible,” Moitra stated.
According to Moitra, Modi and Adani wield significant influence over the government, and those who question or criticize them induce panic. She claimed, “We are one of the few people who are doing this. So their idea is shut them up, put them in jail…”
Describing the saffron party as a “factory of liars,” Moitra criticized the daily dissemination of fake news. She highlighted the challenge of media control by Modi and Adani, where misinformation is picked up, amplified, and triggers widespread reactions.
