For more than a year, a lanter has been hanging from a house in the police post street of Tehsil Gunnaur of district Sambhal. The condition of the house and lanter poses major threat of a possible accident in future. The locals have been consistently informing the concerned authorities but no action has been seen so far.

Residents in the area have asserted that it has been over a year since a lanter has been suspended, and a foundation, 10-12 feet deep, has been excavated beneath it. This suggests that preparations may be underway to construct a basement in the house. Constructing a basement at the level of the main road and the residence is deemed inappropriate. Additionally, the builder of this house has encroached upon the road, according to residents.

Local inhabitants report that the adjacent road has been closed, and a drain has been constructed without proper authorization, involving the breaking of the road. The prolonged presence of the hanging lantern in the house has evolved into a public concern. There is a potential threat to the safety of individuals passing through if the lantern were to fall. Despite numerous complaints lodged with the relevant authorities, no action has been taken thus far. Remarkably, this house has the potential to host significant events.
