Shah Rukh Khan, the Bollywood icon, continues his triumphant streak in 2023 with a series of hits. After the success of Pathaan and Jawan, SRK is set to charm audiences in his upcoming film, Dunki, directed by Rajkumar Hirani. The film, anticipated to be SRK’s third hit of the year, has created buzz since its revelation in 2022.

While the Dunki cast and crew kept fans eagerly awaiting details, November 2023 saw the release of a trailer, two songs, and a teaser, setting the stage for another SRK blockbuster. The collaboration between Shah Rukh Khan and Rajkumar Hirani is a first, with the film produced under Red Chillies Entertainment and Jio Studios, boasting a budget of Rs 85 crore.

Plot Highlights of Dunki

Dunki follows a group of friends from a Punjab village with a shared dream of relocating to England. The twist lies in their lack of visas or tickets. SRK’s character, Hardy, pledges to fulfill their dream through an unconventional means – the “Donkey Flight,” an illegal backdoor entry strategy. The film unravels their journey as they embark on this risky venture to reach England and their subsequent struggles to return home.

Soundtrack and More

Composed by Pritam, Dunki’s soundtrack, featuring singles like “Lutt Putt Gaya” and “Nikle The Kabhi Hum Ghar Se,” is expected to enhance the overall movie experience. Fans are eagerly anticipating the film’s release, expecting another Shah Rukh Khan classic.

Release Date and Shooting Locations

Contrary to earlier rumors of a 2024 release, SRK confirmed during a press conference for Jawan that Dunki is slated for release on December 21, 2023. The film’s promotion will include six “Drops,” featuring teasers, songs, and the trailer.

Principal photography took place in Mumbai, with additional shoots in Budapest, London, Saudi Arabia, Jabalpur, and a final wrap-up in Kashmir, covering various picturesque locations. A special song sequence was also filmed in Kashmir.​
