In a remarkable tale of perseverance and determination, 18-year-old Sunny Kumar from Noida, who sells samosas for a living, has cracked one of the hardest examinations in India for a medical entrance programme at the undergraduate level, the NEET UG examination. The story was first made famous by Alakh Pandey, founder of Physics Wallah who frequently promotes stories and success of various students dismantling barriers to educational attainment.

In the first video footage, the viewer gets to see Kumar’s humble dorm room, walls plastered with study notes and guiding materials that he followed while preparing for the NEET UG exam, and Pandey’s utter shock at the testament, shows the level of intensity and work ethic that Kumar sacrificed to study for his exam.

Sunny Kumar Clears NEET UG

In Pandey’s subsequent video, he expresses his awe of Kumar, and notes that only 18 years old Kumar after years of work experience was able to deliver learning goals, while managing a samosa stall. Overall, many were inspired by Kumar’s humble beginnings and laudable.

Sunny Kumar’s daily schedule was far from easy. After finishing school around 2 PM, he worked at his stall in order to sell samosas and support his family. Even with such long hours of labor, Kumar inculcated a sense of never putting his studies on the backburner. He would study after work but would inevitably stay up late as he was so passionate about passing the NEET UG exam.
