The Brahmin Samaj of India (Registered) marked Makar Sankranti with a “Brahmin Meet and Khichdi” event at 13, Talkatora Road, New Delhi. Themed “Prithvi Mata Rakshatu” (Protect Mother Earth), the gathering focused on the twin goals of environmental conservation and celebrating the Brahmin community’s role in societal progress.
The event, chaired by MP Dr. Mahesh Sharma and graced by former Governor Kalraj Mishra as the chief guest, brought together prominent figures from across India. Dr. Vishwapati Trivedi (Retd. IAS), the national president of the organization, led the program, emphasizing the community’s collective efforts toward social unity and sustainability.
Kalraj Mishra, addressing the audience, praised the Brahmin community’s contributions to society, stating, “Brahmins have always offered guidance through their knowledge and values, especially during times of uncertainty. Today, they must take the lead in tackling pressing issues like environmental conservation.”
Dr. Mahesh Sharma lauded the event’s focus on uniting the community and promoting cultural and environmental values. “This gathering serves as a reminder of the Brahmin community’s commitment to societal welfare and inspires others to work towards preserving our environment and heritage,” he said.
Highlighting the community’s ongoing contributions, Dr. Vishwapati Trivedi said, “The Brahmin community has consistently excelled in education and social service. We aim to strengthen our role in promoting sustainability and public welfare.”
During the event, Atul Mishra, the national general secretary of the organization, proposed renaming Ayodhya railway station after Goswami Tulsidas to honor his contributions to Indian culture and spirituality.
The program saw participation from notable personalities, including Haryana Minister Arvind Sharma, Paytm CEO Vijay Shekhar Sharma, Retired General G.D. Bakshi, and legislators Anuj Sharma and Amrish Sharma. Other attendees included Deputy Chairmen Bunesh Pathak (Uttar Pradesh), Rajendra Dhurve (Madhya Pradesh), and Mukul Agrihotri (Himachal Pradesh), alongside senior social workers Sudhanshu Trivedi and Anuradha Tiwari.
The celebration concluded with a traditional Khichdi feast, during which attendees pledged to actively support environmental conservation. Moderated by Pt. Umashankar Pandey, the program emphasized raising awareness about sustainability and cultural preservation while fostering unity within the Brahmin community.
