Titans Crush KKR By 39 Runs, Gill Hits 90
Titans’ bowlers strike hard as KKR fumble in chase.

New Delhi: On April 21, the 39th match of IPL 2025 Gujarat Titans (GT), claims a 39-run victory against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). The win was partly due to GT’s captain, Shubman Gill, who was voted Player of the Match for his outstanding innings.
Gujarat Titans Batting Showcase

Choosing to bat, the Titans posted a staggering total of 198/3 in the 20 overs. Shubman Gill, who led the innings, almost ended the match by himself with a scorching 90 in just 55 balls, 10 fours, and three sixes. His collaboration with Sai Sudharsan, who scored 52 off 36 balls, gave the team a solid foundation. Jos Buttler also contributed with a quickfire 41 not out in 23 balls, after which the Titans set a challenging score for the opposition.
Efforts of KKR’s Bowling
KKR bowling had a tough day against the Titans’ batting onslaught. Vaibhav Arora and Harshith Rana managed a wicket each but were expensive, giving away 44 and 45 off 4 overs, respectively. Andre Russell claimed a wicket but conceded 13 runs in the process, bowling one over. Spinners Sunil Narine and Varun Chakravarthy tried to slow the run flow to some extent, with Narine being slightly more economical than the other one, conceding 36 runs in his four overs.
KKR’s Slow Chase

Chasing a titanic score, KKR’s innings never reached the momentum required. They were limited to 159 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 20 overs. Captain Ajinkya Rahane hit the most runs by pure determination, scoring 50 off 36 deliveries, while Angkrish Raghuvanshi finished unbeaten on 27 from 13. The brief collapse of the middle order was largely due to the pressure exerted from the early losses.
GT’s Bowling Dominance

GT bowlers showed a disciplined display. Prasidh Krishna and Rashid Khan were the pick of the bowlers with two wickets each and an economy rate of 6.25. Mohammed Siraj and Ishant Sharma took a wicket each, reducing KKR’s batting line-up to shambles. The combined efforts from all ensured that KKR never once seriously threatened the target GT had set.
The Summary of the Match
- Result: Gujarat Titans won by 39 runs.
- Shubman Gill (GT) was awarded Player of the Match
- GT scored 198/3 from 20 overs.
- KKR scored 159/8 from 20 overs.
The win significantly improved the Gujarat Titans’ table position for the IPL 2025, and it speaks much about the team’s balanced performance throughout batting and bowling. In comparison, KKR appears to lack batting depth and consistency in bowling.
