MERI Journalism Students Achieve 100% Placement; 10 Selected by Zee Media

New Delhi: The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at the Management Education and Research Institute (MERI) has achieved 100% placement for all BA (JMC) final semester students who opted for campus recruitment this year. A key highlight of this achievement is the selection of 10 students by Zee Media for roles such as news writing, video editing, and sports reporting.

Dr. (Prof.) Tapash Dey, HR Head of the MERI Group of Institutions, stated that the placement process at MERI is different from that of other institutes. It is not a one-time transaction, but a strategic and long-term collaboration.

At MERI, relationships with companies extend far beyond recruitment. Media organizations that have signed MoUs with the college also contribute throughout the year by engaging in projects, guest lectures, mock interviews, skill-building workshops, curriculum reviews, and academic events.

To prepare students for the professional world, MERI provides focused training in group discussions, aptitude tests, communication skills, presentation techniques, and office etiquette. Each student receives detailed orientation on the job profile before appearing for interviews.

Apart from Zee Media, MERI journalism students have also secured placements in several reputed media and communication organizations, including 95 Films, IndiGo, Home Public Relations, Super Aids, Make My Radio, and Digizen.

Practical training is a core component of education at MERI. The in-house TV studio operates like a professional production house where students regularly produce news bulletins and radio shows, broadcast on the college’s internet radio channel, ‘MERI Vani.’ Acting as campus reporters, students cover events on campus and their reports are published in national newspapers.

This consistent hands-on training equips MERI students with the confidence and skills to enter the media industry and establish their professional careers.
