With a chart-topping soundtrack, debutant leads, and nostalgic storytelling, Saiyaara is being celebrated as the love story of a generation ahead of its July 18 release.

Legendary filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt is singing the praises of Spar Saaya, and interest in the film is high leading up its July 18 release. Director Mohit Suri’s romantic drama, whose first collaboration with Yash Raj Films, is described by Bhatt as “the most definitive romantic film of this generation,” and he declared it is comparable to Bhatt’s own production of Aashiqui from 1990, and that it exceeded the amalgamation of passion and music in the Aashiqui original.
Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda are the fresh faces of Spar Saiyaara. Their chemistry on-screen during the trailer even garnered their own discussion at their recent trailer launch, and industry sources believe they have as strong of a potential Aashiqui breakout lead couple aspiring for young love.
The film’s music has already taken over streaming platforms, with Faheem-Arslan’s title track, Arijit Singh’s Dhun, and Jubin Nautiyal’s Barbaad topping charts. Critics have compared the buzz to the musical legacy of Aashiqui, with Bhatt noting how Suri best known for thrillers like Ek Villain and Awarapan has made a bold and beautiful pivot to heartfelt romance.
Saiyaara also arrives at a critical juncture for Bollywood, hoping to resuscitate the genre of heartbreaking romance following a cavalcade of disappointing films. It has been branded as a “cultural reset” to modern romance with the YRF gloss, Suri’s emotional storytelling and a popular soundtrack.
As Mahesh Bhatt declared, “Every generation needs its own Aashiqui.” It could be a moment in time where, with Saiyaara, that moment has arrived.
