Fresh off Mrs, the Dangal star joins director Kapil Sharma for Aagaaz Entertainment’s 2025 lineup, embracing action-packed humor in a genre shift.

Sanya Malhotra is about to take a leap of faith with the first action-comedy role of her career, as she takes on the lead role in an upcoming but unnamed project produced by Aagaaz Entertainment. This represents a significant shift from Malhotra’s usual dramatic range of performances, and an exciting stride toward mainstream and genre-based filmmaking. The untitled film will be helmed by director Kapil Sharma, making his debut in feature filmmaking.
The announcement was confirmed by trade analyst Taran Adarsh, who noted that the film is the first in Aagaaz Entertainment’s 2025 slate. Malhotra’s choice to step into the action-comedy space is being seen as a smart move, aligning with the recent rise in popularity of female-led action films like Jawan and Crew.
Last seen in a brilliant performance in Mrs. Malhotra and best known for her striking performance in Dangal, Malhotra has been gradually diversifying her filmography. She also impressed fans with the stunning dance number Jinguchaa from Thug Life. With upcoming projects including Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, Toaster, and an undisclosed project with Anurag Kashyap, Malhotra is establishing herself as one of the most versatile talents in contemporary Bollywood.
