Urfi Javed, an actress and internet personality, is creating a stir after candidly documenting everything she went through after having her lip fillers reversed. Urfi shared an emotional Instagram video in which she could be seen with a fat and ugly face while regrettably claiming that she should’ve never had the reversal done.

The 26-year-old star revealed that she had lip fillers for nine years, but the original treatment was poorly done by an unqualified doctor, leaving her with chronic discomfort and an unnatural look. Hoping to fix the issue, she chose to remove the fillers but the results were far more severe than expected. The swelling, she related, was emotionally and physically painful.

Urfi’s honest video has gone viral nearly instantaneously, creating new conversations about both the dangers of cosmetic procedures while generating support from fans and new commitments to “safer” methods of enhancement. In her caption, she encouraged her followers to only seek certified professionals for enhancement, and be launched against trusting inexperienced practitioners when it comes to procedures.

Her story is going wide, and she is pulling back the curtain on the dark side of the increasingly prevalent trends we see in beauty and cosmetic enhancement that are perpetually glorified on social media. Fans praised her for being open and upfront with her reality, while other echoed the idea that it serves as a warning about fake appearances reaching unhealthy beauty standards.
The event also opened up discussions again on the obligation celebrities have to maintain fluctuating standards of beauty. Experts and influencers have also jumbled into the discussion, focusing on things like: the need for health awareness (impacting the general population); mental health considerations (impacting individuals); and accountability for the beauty industry.

But despite the setback, Urfi is determined. She has said she intends to get her lip fillers done again – but this time she will do it safely and with a proper procedure.
