Former DGP-Ranked Officer R.K. Mishra Leads Peaceful Protest, Demands Action Against Misuse of Administrative Power

November 6, 2025 , Darbhanga

The Jan Suraaj Party has alleged large-scale electoral malpractice in the 83-Darbhanga Shehri Assembly Constituency, accusing the local administration and police of collusion in manipulating the election process. The party claimed that incidents of bogus voting, violation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC), and misuse of official authority have undermined the spirit of democracy in the region.

Party leader and former DGP-ranked officer Shri R.K. Mishra staged a peaceful protest at the Darbhanga Police Station, condemning what he termed as a collapse of administrative neutrality and fairness.

“If the police can act with bias and mislead even a retired DGP-ranked officer like me, it raises serious questions about how ordinary citizens are being treated in this state,” Mishra remarked during the protest.

He further appealed to the Director General of Police, Bihar, to initiate strict disciplinary action against officials responsible for abusing their powers. Mishra also expressed disappointment over the inaction of the election observer, who, despite multiple complaints, allegedly failed to prevent ongoing violations of the MCC.

Describing the current situation as a “dark chapter in democracy,” the Jan Suraaj Party put forth several key demands, including:

  • Immediate intervention by the Election Commission of India,
  • Suspension and investigation of officers involved,
  • Re-polling in the affected booths, and
  • Public release of CCTV footage from all polling stations.

Concluding his statement, Shri Mishra emphasized, “This issue goes beyond one constituency—it is about preserving the integrity and soul of Indian democracy.”
