Dr. K.A. Paul Commends Nobel Committee for Honouring True Peace Advocate, Rejecting Trump’s Self-Promotional Bid

The Nobel Peace Prize Committee chose a genuine peacemaker, dismissing Trump’s repeated claims to end global conflicts, from Russia–Ukraine to India–Pakistan tensions, and other international disputes.

New Delhi, October 11, 2025:

Renowned peace activist and humanitarian Dr. K.A. Paul praised the Nobel Peace Prize Committee on Saturday for awarding the prize to a deserving individual while rejecting former U.S. President Donald Trump’s self-promotional campaign. Dr. Paul noted that Trump had repeatedly claimed he could resolve major conflicts such as the Russia–Ukraine war and India–Pakistan tensions, yet his claims failed to produce meaningful results.

Speaking at a press conference in Delhi, Dr. Paul outlined several reasons why Trump’s nomination was rightly overlooked, applauding the committee for prioritizing genuine efforts toward global peace, human dignity, and reconciliation.

“The Nobel Peace Prize should recognise those who work selflessly for global harmony, not those who attempt to secure it through political posturing,” Dr. Paul said. “I commend the committee for honouring a true peacemaker instead of falling for Mr. Trump’s repeated claims for personal publicity.”

Dr. Paul, who himself was nominated three times for the Nobel Peace Prize (2003, 2005, 2006) by 17 countries but declined the award, emphasized that the prize should reflect sustained contributions to global peace rather than personal ambition or media-driven campaigns.

Why Trump Was Not Awarded the Nobel Peace Prize

  1. Self-Promotion Over Merit – Genuine peacemakers are nominated by others, whereas Trump actively campaigned for the award, claiming he “deserves it.” The committee rejected such self-aggrandisement.
  2. Political Lobbying for Nominations – Trump reportedly pressured world leaders, including prime ministers and presidents, politicising the process. The committee wisely recognised this manipulation.
  3. Unfulfilled Claims on Russia–Ukraine and India–Pakistan – Trump promised to end the Russia–Ukraine war “within one hour” and mediate Indo-Pak tensions, yet conflicts persisted months later.
  4. Escalation in the Middle East – Military actions under Trump, including targeted killings in Iran, increased regional tensions instead of promoting peace.
  5. Support for Gaza Blockade – Backing Israel’s blockade of Gaza restricted access to food, water, and medical supplies for over a million civilians, undermining human dignity.
  6. Proposal to Displace Palestinians – Trump’s plan to relocate millions of Palestinians to other countries threatened regional stability and violated human rights.
  7. Global Credibility Undermined – Trade wars with India, Europe, Canada, and Mexico, combined with rising military tensions, weakened his credibility as a peace advocate.

Concluding the press conference, Dr. Paul said, “The Nobel Committee has sent a strong message by recognising a true advocate for peace while rejecting Trump’s publicity-driven campaign. True peacemakers are defined by actions and compassion, not words or power. I salute the committee’s wisdom and integrity.”
