Popular Haryanvi singer and rapper Fazilpuria, known offstage as Rahul Yadav, narrowly avoided a fatal shooting on July 14 after unidentified gunmen fired multiple rounds at his vehicle near Badshahpur, Gurugram. The artist, widely recognized for chart-toppers like Ladki Beautiful, escaped unharmed, though his SUV was riddled with bullets in what police believe was a planned and targeted attack.

The shooting occurred during peak traffic on the Southern Peripheral Road, prompting panic in the area. Eyewitnesses reported hearing several gunshots before the attackers believed to be 2-3 armed men on motorcycles fled the scene. Gurugram Police have launched an intensive investigation, reviewing CCTV footage and exploring possible motives, including personal enmity or music industry rivalries.

Fazilpuria, who has recently worked with Bollywood composers and faced prior threats, is the third regional artist to be attacked this year, highlighting a disturbing trend of rising violence within India’s music industry. While motives remain speculative, officials are not ruling out connections to the underground extortion networks often linked to entertainment figures.

This attack has reignited concerns about performer safety, especially in regional genres like Haryanvi and Punjabi music, which have faced increasing scrutiny for associations with gangster culture. Though Fazilpuria was previously flagged by child rights authorities for glamorizing violence, no formal charges were filed.

Fans and fellow artists have taken to social media in support, demanding justice and stronger protection measures for performers. Law enforcement has assured the public that those responsible will be brought to justice.
