Putin on the Gaza “Catastrophe”: “Nothing Like This In Ukraine”

President Vladimir Putin called the situation in Gaza as a “catastrophe” on a scale not comparable to the Ukraine conflict on Thursday.

Putin made the remarks during a news conference in Moscow, as his full-scale military campaign against Kiev approaches the two-year milestone.

“Everybody here and around the world can see and look at the special military operation and what is happening in Gaza and feel the difference,” he said, referring to the Kremlin’s fight in Ukraine.

“But there is nothing like this in Ukraine,” he stated.

Now in its third month, the conflict between Israel and Hamas started as a result of the Palestinian organisation Hamas’ October 7 strikes on Israel, which 1,200 people, primarily civilians, are said to have died in.

According to the health ministry operated by Hamas, it has left besieged Gaza in ruins and killed around 18,600 people, the most of whom were women and children.

Following intense conflicts, Russia has been using drones and missiles to consistently strike Ukrainian cities since February 2022. As a result, it has taken control of sizable portions of the country’s east and south.

According to the UN, over 10,000 civilians have died in Ukraine, although the true number is probably much higher.
