Was Shubman Gill Really Out? 1 Umpire Call That Sparked Dugout Drama in GT vs SRH!

Shubman Gill’s blazing 76 cut short by a disputed decision—but GT rise above controversy to secure crucial win.

A disputed run-out by Gujarat Titans (GT) skipper Shubman Gill sparked heated comments during their IPL 2025 encounter against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Friday at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Despite the drama, GT won a comfortable 38-run victory, improving their chances of making it to the playoffs.

This accident took place at the 13th over of GT’s team. Jos Buttler executed a short fine leg tap off the delivery of Zeeshan Ansari and called for a quick single.Harshal Patel responded right away, snatched the ball, and threw it forcefully in the direction of the striker.

SRH wicketkeeper Heinrich Klaasen tried to push the ball onto the stumps from in front of them with his gloves. The on-field umpires decided to refer the game to the third umpire because of the close call.

The issue was whether the stumps were knocked over by the ball or Klaasen’s gloves. There were multiple replays and angles shown. Michael Gough, the third umpire, clarified that the ball seemed to shift direction slightly after striking Klaasen’s gloves and then striking the stumps. Based on this, he decided to givel a time-out.

Shubman Gill, who was playing fantastically at the moment, seemed to be shocked and disappointed. He argued on the field for a bit before walking off with a scowl on his face. He was later seen having an angry confrontation with the TV umpire after returning to the dugout.

Gill had played an excellent innings, scoring 76 off 38 balls. His innings contained many big shots and had put GT in a strong position.

SRH captain Pat Cummins had won the toss earlier in the day and elected to bowl first. Gujarat Titans made a single change to their playing XI, replacing Karim Janat with South African pacer Gerald Coetzee. SRH played an unchanged side.

When the early wickets fell, Gill and Buttler guided the GT innings back on track. Their vigorous cooperation raised the score to more than 180. GT finished the innings with a fighting score.

Sunrisers Hyderabad frequently lost wickets as they attempted to chase down the score. GT’s bowlers maintained the pressure built up during the inning and bowled out SRH to record an easy 38-run win.

With this victory, GT took themselves one step closer to keeping their place in the playoffs, and the dubious run-out of their captain remains a talking point for fans and commentators alike.
