BRAVIA Theatre Bar 6 and System 6 tuned for Indian preferences.

New Delhi: Sony India has introduced two new home audio systems under its BRAVIA Theatre series — the BRAVIA Theatre Bar 6 and the BRAVIA Theatre System 6 — to consolidate its position in the high-end soundbar segment in India. The introduction was made at a launch function in New Delhi on June 30.*.

On July 1, the BRAVIA Theatre Bar 6, a 3.1.2 channel soundbar system, will go on sale for ₹39,990. The BRAVIA Theatre System 6 is a larger 5.1 channel home theater system priced at ₹49,990 and will be available from July 3. Both systems support Dolby Atmos and DTS:X and are equipped with Sony’s Vertical Surround Engine and S-Force PRO Front Surround technology.

Made for home cinematic sound, the Bar 6 is equipped with a wireless subwoofer and two up firing speakers for in-over-head sound. It also boasts Voice Zoom 3, an AI-driven voice amplification technology, and Night and Voice modes for enhancing sound in varying environments. The Bar 6 is compatible with none of Sony’s current speaker add-ons.

The more robust BRAVIA Theatre System 6 has a total audio output of 1000 watts and comes with a built-in subwoofer and wireless rear speakers. The Multi-Stereo Content feature is also available, which duplicates stereo audio from left and right speakers to center and rear speakers for enhanced surround sound effect. Similar to the Bar 6, the System 6 has Voice Zoom 3, Night Mode, and can be controlled through the BRAVIA Connect app or TV remote.

Sunil Nayyar, Managing Director of Sony India, announced that the company now has an estimated 39–40% market share in soundbars in India and aims at a 50% market share following the introduction of these new models. “With Indian consumers increasingly seeking richer audio-visual experiences, we believe this range will raise a new bar in the premium home entertainment sector,” Nayyar stated.

The increasing viewing of OTT content in India is one of the major drivers for the increasing demand for premium audio systems, Sony says. The new BRAVIA Theatre product line has been designed specifically to appeal to Indian preferences, with a strong emphasis on delivering powerful bass and crisp voice delivery.
In markets such as India, where loud bass and full audio immersion are highly respected, our new BRAVIA Theatre range, such as the System 6 and Bar 6 are specifically designed to meet these expectations,” stated Nezu Daisuke, Global Head of Sony’s Home Product Business Division.
Tomoya Kato, Senior Acoustic Engineer at Sony, explained that the Indians-only tuning yields rich, impactful bass and crisp vocals, qualifying the systems for both film enthusiasts and music fans.

The products will both be available in Sony retail stores, large electronics stores, and online websites throughout the country.
Sony looks to the launches to help reinforce its leadership status in India and beyond in the home entertainment premium space.
