BLE-powered luggage may offer live location tracking, Find Hub integration, and Fast Pair support
New Delhi: Homegrown consumer electronics brand boAt has announced a strategic partnership with leading travel gear manufacturer Safari Industries for the launch of a new line of smart luggage, slated to debut during Amazon Prime Day 2025 (July 12–14). The collaboration, titled ‘Safari x boAt’, was unveiled at a special event hosted by Amazon in New Delhi on Monday.
The upcoming smart luggage is expected to integrate boAt Tag technology — a Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE)-based tracker that allows users to locate misplaced items like keys, wallets, or bags. This could enable real-time location tracking of luggage via smartphones, offering features such as sound alerts and navigation assistance when a bag is lost or stolen.
Though complete specifications remain under wraps, industry insiders speculate that the smart luggage may support Google’s Find My Device network, allowing for unknown tracker alerts and Fast Pair compatibility. If confirmed, this would expand the utility of the luggage across Android and iOS ecosystems through apps like Find Hub and Find My.
Safari already offers smart luggage models under its Trackr lineup, which feature integrated boAt Tags for location tracking. These bags are currently available on the company’s website, starting at ₹4,499 for cabin-sized versions, with medium and large variants priced at ₹5,999 and ₹6,999, respectively. The smart tracker carries a one-year warranty, while the luggage itself is covered for five years.
While more details on the Safari x boAt collection are expected to be revealed closer to the launch, the announcement signals a growing trend in merging wearable tech with travel utility to cater to modern, tech-savvy travelers.
