New Delhi: After 10 years, YouTube decided to retire the Trending Page and Now Trending list. Originally, it gave viewers a quick look at what was popular worldwide and locally. Over time, it became a way for creators to gain recognition through high view counts. But its importance has faded.

In a blog post, YouTube said traffic to the Trending Page has dropped significantly over the last five years. They believe this is because users now discover videos through other parts of the platform, like the Home Page, recommendations, Shorts, and comments.

“YouTube users are leaning more toward personalized recommendations, making the Trending Page less useful,” the company said. “Most discover trending videos through their own feeds, search suggestions, or communities they follow.”

Why It Matters

The Trending Page used to play a big role in helping creators get noticed by featuring their videos on a widely seen list. But as YouTube’s algorithm got smarter, content discovery shifted to personalized experiences that the Trending Page couldn’t offer.

YouTube admitted that today’s platform better serves users by showing content based on their interests and past activity, making a one-size-fits-all trending list less needed.

What’s Next for Viewers and Creators

Even without the Trending Page, YouTube says content discovery won’t suffer. They’re pointing users to other ways to find popular and new videos:

YouTube Charts: Focused on music now, showing top music videos, podcasts, and trailers. Plans are in place to add more categories soon.

Gaming Explore Page: Trending videos will still appear in the Gaming section under Explore.

Explore Page, Subscriptions Feed, and Creator Channels: These remain active for finding relevant content beyond personalized feeds.

Inspiration Tab in YouTube Studio: Creators can still get trend insights tailored to their niche through this feature.

Looking Ahead

This change reflects a bigger shift in digital content—personalization is becoming key. As platforms tailor experiences to each user, fixed lists like the Trending Page become less useful.

Still, its removal ends an era. For many longtime users, the Trending Page was more than a feature—it was a daily ritual, a snapshot of what was happening online worldwide.

While some may miss it, YouTube believes its dynamic, algorithm-driven system will better meet the needs of today’s viewers, helping everyone discover the content they care about most.
