UzJOKU and India’s MERI Group of Institutes advance bilateral cooperation through student exchanges, dual diplomas, joint research, and modern journalism training initiatives.
NEW DELHI, October 30, 2025
The Uzbekistan University of Journalism and Mass Communications (UzJOKU) recently hosted a delegation from India’s MERI Group of Institutes to discuss new avenues of academic collaboration in journalism and media education. The meeting marked another step forward in the deepening partnership between educational institutions of Uzbekistan and India.
Discussions centered on expanding cooperation in areas such as student and faculty exchanges, the development of joint academic programs, dual-degree opportunities, and the organization of collaborative seminars, conferences, and research projects. Both sides emphasized the importance of equipping future journalists with the skills and perspectives required in a rapidly evolving global media landscape.
This partnership was first formalized earlier this year when UzJOKU and the MERI Group signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) during an Uzbek delegation’s visit to India. The agreement laid a foundation for long-term collaboration aimed at promoting academic excellence and intercultural exchange in journalism education.
During the latest meeting, both institutions reviewed progress on existing initiatives and explored practical ways to enhance implementation — including co-hosted lectures, online training modules, and experiential learning programs for student journalists.
For UzJOKU, the collaboration represents an opportunity to integrate international best practices in journalism training. Meanwhile, MERI Group — known for its strong focus on hands-on learning and state-of-the-art media facilities — brings extensive expertise in preparing students for dynamic roles in print, broadcast, and digital media.
The growing academic partnership between Uzbekistan and India in the field of journalism is expected to contribute to the development of globally competent media professionals while further strengthening cultural and educational ties between the two countries.
