Quick action by Head Constable leads to arrest of armed accused; firing during escape bid, illegal firearm recovered, previous cases traced
New Delhi: In an exemplary act of vigilance and courage, Head Constable Vikrant of PS Kalyanpuri managed to apprehend an armed suspect. Upon being challenged, the accused opened fire in the air and attempted to flee on a scooty, but was pursued and overpowered by the officer alone. An illegal pistol and three live cartridges were seized from his possession.
Incident & Investigation
On 20.04.2026 at approximately 02:25 AM, HC Vikrant was proceeding towards Mayur Vihar in his private vehicle. Near the Community Building, Block-25, Trilokpuri, he noticed a suspicious individual carrying a firearm. Acting swiftly, he stopped and challenged the individual.
In response, the accused fired one round in the air and attempted to escape on a red-coloured scooty. HC Vikrant immediately pursued and successfully overpowered the accused single-handedly. Upon search, the following items were recovered:
• One illegal country-made pistol
• Three live cartridges
Information was promptly conveyed to Police Station Kalyanpuri. The local police team reached the spot, took custody of the accused, and seized the recovered items. A case has been registered at PS Kalyanpuri under Section 125 BNS and Sections 25/27 of the Arms Act. Further investigation is underway.
