Sri Lanka Tourism Showcases Opportunities, Strengthens Gujarat Connections at Surat Roadshow

Surat, Gujarat: The Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB), together with its leading travel trade partners, successfully organized the Sri Lanka Tourism B2B Roadshow & Networking Evening at the Surat Marriott Hotel on 15 June 2026. The event attracted prominent travel professionals, tourism stakeholders, airline executives, media representatives, and business leaders from both Gujarat and Sri Lanka.

The event served as a strategic platform to strengthen tourism and business relationships between Sri Lanka and India, particularly the rapidly growing South Gujarat market. The roadshow witnessed active participation from Sri Lankan tourism companies and Indian travel agents, facilitating productive business-to-business meetings aimed at promoting Sri Lanka as a preferred international travel destination for Indian travelers. 

The evening commenced with registration and networking, followed by dedicated B2B sessions between Indian and Sri Lankan travel partners. The formal inauguration featured the National Anthems of India and Sri Lanka, the traditional lighting of the oil lamp symbolizing friendship and prosperity, and an exchange of tokens of appreciation. 

Addressing the gathering, Ms. Shirani Herath, Assistant Director, Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau, highlighted Sri Lanka’s commitment to strengthening tourism partnerships with India and emphasized the destination’s diverse offerings, ranging from pristine beaches and wildlife experiences to cultural heritage, wellness tourism, and luxury hospitality. 

The event was graced by prominent industry leaders including:

•   Mr. Rajneesh Bhatnagar, Treasurer, TAFI Gujarat Chapter
•   Mr. Minesh Nair, President, SATA
•   Mr. Ashokbhai Virjibhai Chodvadiya, President, SGCCI
•   Mr. Fawzan Fareid, Regional Manager – India, Bangladesh & Nepal, SriLankan Airlines

The evening also featured destination presentations, tourism promotional videos, cultural dance performances showcasing Sri Lankan heritage, a raffle draw, and a networking dinner that provided attendees with further opportunities to build meaningful business relationships. 

The Surat roadshow marks an important step in Sri Lanka Tourism’s ongoing efforts to engage with the Indian travel trade and encourage greater visitor arrivals from Gujarat. With enhanced air connectivity, simplified travel procedures, and a wide range of tourism experiences, Sri Lanka continues to position itself as one of the most attractive short-haul international destinations for Indian travelers.

The roadshow is part of a three-city Gujarat outreach initiative by Sri Lanka Tourism, aimed at fostering stronger tourism collaborations and driving future growth in visitor exchanges between the two countries.
