HRDS India Advances Tribal Welfare, Sustainable Development and Humanitarian Housing

NGO Takes Up 1,500-Home J&K Project Alongside Tribal Welfare, Green Housing and Waste Management Initiatives

New Delhi: HRDS India (Highrange Rural Development Society), a registered NGO founded in 1995, continues to work with tribal and rural communities across India. President Srimath Swami Atma Nambi and Founder & Secretary Aji Krishnan lead the organisation’s efforts to improve shelter, livelihoods, dignity and self-reliance among marginalised communities.

Over the past three decades, HRDS India has introduced initiatives in education, healthcare, women’s empowerment, livelihood generation and environmental sustainability. The organisation runs Sadhgraha for tribal housing, Karshaka for organic farming, Jwalamukhi for women’s empowerment, Ekagrah for education and skill development, and Niramaya for Ayurveda and yoga-based healthcare.

The organisation operates across Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Odisha, Rajasthan, Manipur, Jharkhand, Assam and Tripura. Its Sadhgraha programme focuses on building durable and furnished homes for tribal families. HRDS India uses environmentally sustainable materials and faster construction methods to deliver these houses.

The NGO also creates livelihood opportunities through organic farming, DDU-GKY-linked skill development and women-led micro-enterprises. In Manipur, HRDS India plans to assist tribal and homeless families affected by displacement and conflict with safe housing and integrated development programmes.

HRDS India has also increased its focus on environmental protection and sanitation. Its partnership with Japan-based SMI Inc. supports waste management, recycling and waste-processing projects. The organisation’s MoU with Calculus Group will promote AI-based sanitation solutions, IoT-enabled infrastructure and digital ecosystems for underserved rural areas.

In Jammu and Kashmir, HRDS India has launched a major humanitarian housing programme to construct 1,500 free three-bedroom prefabricated “Smart Houses”. The organisation will provide the homes to families affected by floods, landslides, damage linked to Operation Sindoor and certain cases of terrorism.

The initiative will offer more than housing support. Under MoUs with the Divisional Commissioners of Jammu and Kashmir, beneficiaries will receive modern homes, 15-year life insurance coverage for family members, regular health check-ups and digital connectivity. HRDS India will also provide free maintenance and repainting for several years.

The organisation has laid foundation stones in multiple districts and plans to complete construction within months of commencing the work. HRDS India will bear the full cost of the project, while the government and beneficiaries will not have to pay for the houses.

HRDS India operates independently and maintains a non-political status. The organisation is registered with NITI Aayog, eligible for CSR funding, tax-exempt under Section 80G and compliant with FCRA requirements for foreign contributions. It receives voluntary donations and philanthropic assistance while continuing to seek partnerships for welfare and rehabilitation programmes.
