HRDS INDIA and Arkadis are exploring a strategic partnership for sustainable development, tribal housing, waste management and infrastructure projects in India
New Delhi: HRDS INDIA is moving towards a potential strategic partnership with Netherlands-based Arkadis to develop sustainable and inclusive projects in India. The proposed cooperation will give special attention to Northeast India and community-focused development initiatives.
The partnership is being explored as part of a proposed international development programme that envisages up to €1 billion in potential investments and development initiatives. The programme will cover areas such as sustainable waste management, affordable housing, rural development, environmental management and community infrastructure.
The proposed cooperation would bring together HRDS INDIA’s grassroots implementation experience and community presence with Arkadis’ international expertise in engineering, design, infrastructure, sustainability and project development.
The initiative follows discussions between HRDS INDIA Founder and Secretary Shri Aji Krishnan and Arkadis Chief Operating Officer Hans Dekker in Amsterdam. The meeting focused on HRDS INDIA’s development initiatives, its work with local communities and opportunities for future cooperation.
Following the discussions, Arkadis expressed formal interest in developing a long-term strategic relationship with HRDS INDIA.
Several areas have been identified as potential fields of cooperation. These include affordable and sustainable housing, tribal housing, community infrastructure, soil testing, agricultural development, sustainable construction, rural development, infrastructure planning, climate resilience and environmental solutions.
The Tribal Housing Project of HRDS INDIA is one of the initiatives being considered for potential collaboration. The project aims to create affordable and environmentally responsible housing for tribal and rural communities.
Arkadis could provide technical support in sustainable construction, design, infrastructure planning and project development. The partnership could help strengthen project planning and introduce sustainable approaches suited to local requirements.
As part of the next phase, Arkadis has expressed interest in sending its associates and professional representatives to HRDS INDIA’s New Delhi headquarters. The proposed visit will allow the teams to examine ongoing and planned projects, understand technical requirements and identify areas where both organisations can work together.
Sustainable waste management and recycling will also receive significant attention under the proposed development programme. The initiative aims to explore better waste-handling systems and environmentally responsible practices while supporting rural and community development.
Both organisations are also looking at pilot projects that can test the feasibility of longer-term programmes. The objective is to develop practical solutions that can be scaled up and deliver measurable benefits to local communities.
Shri Aji Krishnan said HRDS INDIA seeks to combine its grassroots experience with international expertise, technology and strategic partnerships. He added that such cooperation could support practical solutions in waste management, rural development, tribal housing and community infrastructure, particularly in Northeast India.
