18 September 2026, New Delhi: The MERI Group of Institutions has entered into a new academic partnership with the Technological University of Tajikistan (TUT) to expand educational and cultural cooperation between India and Tajikistan.
MERI Group and TUT signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Dushanbe on September 17, 2026. Prof. Lalit Aggarwal, Vice-President of MERI Group of Institutions, signed the agreement on behalf of MERI Group, while Prof. Rahmonzoda Zoir Faizali, Rector of TUT, represented the Tajik university.
Representatives of the Embassy of India in Dushanbe and Tajikistan’s National Commission for UNESCO under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs attended the ceremony.
Prof. (Dr.) Ramakant Dwivedi, Head of the MERI Centre for International Studies and Director of the India Central Asia Foundation, attended the event along with Mr. Luv Aggarwal and Prof. Ikromi Khushed Ikrom, Vice-Rector of TUT.
MERI Group and TUT Plan Joint Academic Projects
The MoU will enable both institutions to cooperate in management, artificial intelligence and other professional fields. They will also develop research initiatives, scholarship opportunities and joint projects.
MERI Group and TUT will further promote academic discussions through thematic conferences, seminars and round tables. The events will connect academics with technocrats, diplomats, defence analysts, entrepreneurs and policy administrators.
MoU Focuses on Long-Term Academic Cooperation
The partnership will allow both institutions to explore areas of mutual interest between India and Tajikistan. It will also encourage research exchange and greater interaction between academic communities in both countries.
The MERI Group of Institutions has its headquarters in New Delhi and offers education in management, engineering, space studies, journalism, law, international relations, economics and commerce.
TUT has operated since 1991 and focuses on fundamental and applied research across its academic fields.
The latest agreement will create a platform for greater educational collaboration while supporting cultural and people-to-people ties between India and Tajikistan.
