War 2 Rakes In ₹2.24 Crore on Day 1 of Advance Bookings Despite Sparse Telugu Shows

Hrithik Roshan–Jr NTR action thriller sees strong Hindi demand ahead of Aug 14 release; faces Rajinikanth’s Coolie in box office clash.

Advance bookings for the highly anticipated action spectacle War 2 have opened to an impressive ₹2.24 crore in ticket sales on the first day, trade reports reveal. Starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, the YRF Spy Universe installment is set for release on August 14 and is already generating massive buzz.

Despite Jr NTR’s towering popularity in the Telugu market, the film has just 115 Telugu-language shows compared to 9,000 Hindi screenings nationwide. The Hindi version releasing in 2D, IMAX, 4DX, and other premium formats is driving the bulk of sales. Industry insiders suggest that block bookings for promotional purposes could push day-one advance totals to around ₹7.6 crore.

The film will lock horns with Rajinikanth’s Coolie, also releasing on August 14. While War 2’s domestic momentum looks solid, overseas numbers have been modest so far, with only 1,600 tickets sold in the U.S. for paid previews.

Directed by Ayan Mukerji, the film introduces Kiara Advani as the new female lead opposite Hrithik, replacing Vaani Kapoor from the first installment. Hrithik has lauded Jr NTR as a “one-take artist” whose intensity elevates every scene. Packed with high-octane stunts and star power, War 2 is eyeing box office dominance though its limited Telugu reach and holiday-weekend clash could shape its final earnings.
