DD Kisan to Celebrate Women Farmers’ Day with Inspiring Stories and Cultural Showcase

On 15th October, DD Kisan will feature progressive women farmers’ journeys of struggle and success, alongside a vibrant Kalbelia dance by Padma Shri Gulabo Sapera celebrating Rajasthani folk culture.

In honor of Women Farmers’ Day on 15th October, DD Kisan will air a special program highlighting the remarkable stories of women farmers across India. The program will spotlight their perseverance, innovations, and achievements, celebrating a decade of Women Farmers’ Day, first observed in 2016.

The recording of the program at the DD Kisan studio was attended by several dignitaries and senior officials from the agricultural sector, who extended their greetings and best wishes to women farmers. Key attendees included Prasar Bharati Chairman Navneet Kumar Sehgal, CEO Gaurav Dwivedi, Doordarshan Director General K. Satish Nambudripad, DD Kisan Deputy Director Lokman Singh, and Deputy Director & Program Head Rajkumar Nahar.

The program will feature eminent women farmers such as Padma Shri Rajkumari Devi (Kisan Chachi), Padma Shri Kamatchi Chellammal (Nariyal Amma), Vimala Sinwar (India’s first “Namo Drone Didi”), agricultural entrepreneur Annu Kanawat, Padma Shri Janak Palta for her work in energy conservation, and Renu Sangwan, celebrated for her contributions to dairy farming. Their inspiring stories reflect the resilience and innovation of India’s women in agriculture.

Adding a vibrant cultural dimension, the program will include a Kalbelia dance performance by Padma Shri Gulabo Sapera, showcasing the rich heritage of Rajasthani folk culture and its global appeal.

This special program aims to not only honor women farmers but also inspire the next generation with their stories of determination, innovation, and contribution to India’s agricultural growth.
