The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at Management Education and Research Institute (MERI) College, Janakpuri, organized a special workshop on Monday titled “How to Become an Influencer @ MERI.” The event featured senior journalist Ms. Namrata Singh from Sansad TV as the chief speaker, who addressed the students.
Ms. Singh emphasized how social media has transformed the definition of journalism today. She pointed out that it is no longer just about facts but equally about how those facts are presented. She stressed the importance of consistency, patience, and fact-checking as essential values for maintaining an effective social media presence.
Sharing practical tips for making content viral on YouTube and other social platforms, Ms. Singh highlighted that hashtags, titles, and the content itself play a crucial role in a video’s virality. She explained that titles should not only be catchy but also connected to trending topics. Content must be created in a way that sparks curiosity and engagement among viewers.
During the Q&A session at the end of the workshop, students asked various questions related to the role of social media influencers, which Ms. Singh answered in detail.
The workshop was held under the guidance of Prof. Lalit Aggarwal, Vice President of MERI Group of Institutions. At the start, Dr. S.K. Pandey, Head of Department, shed light on the growing influence of social media influencers.
The vote of thanks was delivered by Prof. Deepashikha Kalra, Dean of MERI College. The event was attended by college advisors Prof. Rakesh Khurana and other faculty members, including Prof. Sadanand Pandey. The program was hosted by BA (JAMC) students Pritha Arora and Neha Saini.
