Haryana’s Sporting Fraternity Left Reeling as 25-Year-Old Player Dies after Being Allegedly Shot by Father
New Delhi: In a tragic incident that has left the sporting community in shock, 25-year-old state-level tennis player Radhika Yadav was allegedly killed by her father at their residence in Gurugram on Thursday.
The attack took place at about 12 noon at her home in Sector 57, where Radhika shared a residence with her parents. Her father is believed to have shot at her three times when the police say they have preliminary findings that a domestic dispute had ensued.
Seriously hurt, Radhika was taken to a private hospital near her home. She died a few minutes after arrival despite attempts at treatment by the medical staff.
Police have initiated a thorough investigation and are interrogating neighbors and family members to ascertain the sequence of events before the horrific shooting. According to reports, the motive behind the shooting is still unknown, but authorities are likely to provide more information as they continue their investigation.
Radhika Yadav was a familiar face on Haryana tennis circuits, representing the state in several tournaments and being hailed as a budding tennis star.
The traumatic event has been causing outrage and despair throughout the region, with numerous people from both the sporting and wider local community demanding justice.
