Sachin Tendulkar Immortalized at Lord’s with Portrait Unveiling Ahead of India-England Test

Despite never making it to the Lord’s Honors Board, the cricket icon is celebrated with a permanent tribute at the sport’s most revered venue.

New Delhi: 10 July 2025

Cricketing great Sachin Tendulkar was honoured with an unveiling of a portrait at the venerable Lord’s Museum on July 10, 2022, shortly before the start of the third Test Match between England and India. The elegant portrait of a young Tendulkar in India’s traditional Test whites, now serves to honour the “Master Blaster” at cricket’s spiritual home.

Interestingly, despite his monumental career spanning 200 Tests and 463 ODIs Tendulkar’s name never made it to the Lord’s Honors Board, which lists players who’ve scored a century or taken five wickets in a match at the venue. His highest Test score at Lord’s was 37, though he accumulated over 2,600 runs in England during his career.

The tribute arrives as India and England enter the third Test tied 1-1 in the ongoing five-match series. Tendulkar, currently in London, also made headlines recently for attending Yuvraj Singh’s YWC charity gala. While statistics may have eluded him at Lord’s, this portrait ensures Tendulkar’s legacy is permanently etched in cricketing history.
