New Delhi: Parul Singh, President of the Delhi Paralympic Committee, took part in the ‘Aashirwad Ka Diya’ initiative with her family on Thursday, marking Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 76th birthday. Singh and her family lit diyas and offered prayers for his health, long life and continued service to India.
The initiative asked families across Delhi to light a diya between 6 pm and 7 pm on September 17. Organisers described the gesture as a way for families to convey their blessings and birthday wishes to the Prime Minister. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta had also called on Delhi residents to join the initiative.
Singh said the diya-lighting programme allowed families to participate together and convey their wishes to the Prime Minister.
“I wish Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji good health, long life and happiness on his birthday. I hope he continues to serve the country with the same dedication and, perhaps, continues to lead the nation in the years ahead. We lit the diya with these prayers and good wishes,” she said.
The ‘Aashirwad Ka Diya’ initiative was organised as part of the broader birthday celebrations and the month-long ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’, which began on September 17. Prime Minister Modi also acknowledged the initiative, saying the blessings expressed by people had strengthened his determination to continue serving the nation.
