Hyderabad: Nearly 35,000 people participated in Pink Power Run 3.0 in Hyderabad on Sunday, turning the city’s HMDA Grounds near Prasads IMAX into a major community fitness event. The run aimed to spread awareness about breast cancer prevention, early detection, screening and women’s health.
MEIL and the Sudha Reddy Foundation organised the third edition of the Pink Power Run. Participants could choose from four race categories — 21K Half Marathon, 10K, 5K and 3K.
35,000 participants support health awareness campaign
The event brought together participants across age groups and abilities. Children, senior citizens, neurodivergent individuals and persons with disabilities joined the races.
The 21K Half Marathon also attracted elite runners from more than a dozen countries, including Kenya, Ethiopia, the USA, UK, UAE and Canada.
Telangana Minister Danasari Anasuya (Seethakka), DGP C.V. Anand, MEIL Managing Director P.V. Krishna Reddy, Sudha Reddy and U.S. Consul General Laura Williams attended the event.
Vijender Singh, Opal Suchata among participants
The event attracted several well-known names from sports, entertainment and public life.
Former Miss World Thailand Opal Suchata Chuangsri, boxer Vijender Singh, actor Siddu Jonnalagadda and music composer S. Thaman participated in the event.
Laura Williams ran the 10K, while Sudha Reddy, P.V. Krishna Reddy and Opal Suchata joined the 5K and 10K races.
Ramabai Ranveer, a 47-year-old participant from Maharashtra, also took part. She previously gained attention for running barefoot in support of her children’s education.
Check winners of 21K, 10K and 5K
Suneel Kumar won the men’s 21K Half Marathon, while Sonam took the women’s title.
Harish Shareen won the men’s 10K and Vandana Patel won the women’s 10K. In the 5K category, Luv Choudhary finished first among men, while Anjali won the women’s race.
The organisers distributed Rs. 75 lakh in total cash prizes to top performers across the race categories. They also presented medals and trophies to the winners.
Pink Power Run focuses on early detection
P.V. Krishna Reddy said regular exercise remains important for maintaining good health and preventing lifestyle-related illnesses.
Sudha Reddy said the foundation wants to encourage more families and communities to adopt healthier lifestyles and become more aware of preventive healthcare.
Minister Danasari Anasuya also stressed the importance of creating greater health awareness among people.
The organisers said the participation in Pink Power Run 3.0 reflects wider public interest in preventive healthcare, early medical intervention and breast cancer screening. The event continues to use running and community participation to promote awareness about women’s health.
