Sri Lanka Tourism brought Kerala travel agents, industry associations and tourism businesses together at its final roadshow in Thiruvananthapuram

Thiruvananthapuram:  Sri Lanka Tourism has stepped up its engagement with Kerala’s travel industry through a business networking event in Thiruvananthapuram. The event, held on October 30, brought together travel agents, tour operators, industry associations, media professionals and representatives of Sri Lankan tourism businesses.

The Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB) organised the Sri Lanka Tourism B2B Roadshow & Networking Evening – Kerala Series 2026 at Hilton Garden Inn. The event marked the final stop in the bureau’s three-city Kerala outreach programme.

The initiative focused on building business partnerships, improving destination awareness and creating opportunities for tourism exchange between the two countries.

Travel Agents and Tourism Businesses Explore Partnerships

The evening included dedicated business-to-business sessions where Indian and Sri Lankan travel professionals interacted directly. The meetings allowed participants to understand destination offerings, exchange industry insights and discuss potential collaborations.

A separate media networking session helped tourism representatives connect with regional media professionals and discuss Sri Lanka’s tourism development.

Shaji Mathew Mulamoottil, Secretary of TAFI’s Kerala Chapter, and Anish Kumar P K, representing ATTOI, addressed the gathering. Their participation highlighted the role of industry associations in connecting destination authorities with travel businesses.

Sri Lanka Tourism Presents Destination Offerings

Sanjaya Niroshana, Managing Director of SLTPB, delivered the welcome address and destination presentation. He highlighted Sri Lanka’s tourism experiences and the importance of working closely with Indian travel industry partners.

The island offers a mix of tourism products, including coastal holidays, cultural attractions, wildlife experiences, adventure activities, Ayurveda and wellness retreats. It also attracts families, honeymooners and travellers interested in spiritual journeys.

The destination’s proximity to India and cultural links make it a relevant option for travellers from Kerala and other southern states.

Airline Presentation Highlights Connectivity

Arfaz Nuwaiz, Area Manager – Cochin, SriLankan Airlines, delivered an airline presentation and screened a promotional video. The session highlighted the role of air connectivity in supporting tourist movement between India and Sri Lanka.

Better awareness of travel options can help agents and tour operators guide customers and develop suitable holiday packages.

Three-City Roadshow Concludes in Kerala

The Thiruvananthapuram event followed the Kozhikode roadshow on October 26 and the Kochi event on October 28.

The programme concluded with traditional Sri Lankan dance performances, a vote of thanks by SLTPB Assistant Director Shirani Herath, a group photograph and a raffle draw. Guests then attended a networking dinner.

With the Kerala series complete, SLTPB aims to build on the business connections made during the three-city programme and strengthen cooperation with India’s travel industry.
