The Management Education & Research Institute (MERI), New Delhi, conducted a dedicated faculty research and presentation session on June 26 to study emerging technologies and their increasing relevance to industry, education and public policy. Guided by the feedback and recommendations of Mr. Vinayak Godse, CEO of DSCI, Air Vice Marshal VSM (Dr.) Devesh Vatsa, DSCI Member and Advisor for Cyber Security, and Major General Manjeet Singh Mokha, the initiative encouraged faculty members to continuously update their understanding of global technological advancements and incorporate them into classroom learning.
Faculty members were divided into ten groups, with each group assigned a specific area of research covering recent developments by leading global technology companies such as Microsoft, Google, NVIDIA, Intel, NXP Semiconductors and Qualcomm. The discussions also focused on the latest progress in artificial intelligence, including OpenAI, Claude and Chinese AI models, as well as advancements in Agentic AI and humanoid robotics by companies such as Figure AI, Unitree and AGIBOT.
The exercise encouraged participants to go beyond understanding new products and technologies. Each group analysed the reasons behind these innovations, their impact on the global technology ecosystem, their relevance for India’s industries and economy, and the policy and governance challenges that may arise with the rapid adoption of these technologies.
The faculty presented their findings in short presentations, followed by interactive question-and-answer sessions. The presentations were evaluated on the quality of research, depth of analysis, clarity of ideas and the ability to explain complex technological developments in a meaningful and practical manner.
The initiative reflects MERI’s commitment to promoting continuous learning and ensuring that its faculty remain well-informed about global technological trends. By encouraging research-driven discussions on emerging technologies, the institute aims to strengthen academic excellence and prepare students with knowledge that is relevant to the fast-changing digital world.
