MERI College’s photography contest encouraged students to tell stories through images, with themes covering nature and everyday college life
New Delhi: A photograph can capture a moment, communicate an idea and tell a story without words. MERI College’s Precious Pixels Club explored this creative side of photography through a competition titled ‘Pixels with Purpose: See a Bigger Story’ on October 23, 2026.
The event took place at Seminar Hall 504 and encouraged students to express their perspectives through photographs. It also aimed to promote creativity and develop interest in visual storytelling.
Nature and Campus Life Take Centre Stage
The competition featured two themes: Flora and Fauna and College Life.
Through the first theme, participants captured elements of the natural world. The second encouraged them to find stories in everyday campus experiences.
Students used their photographs to present different perspectives and demonstrate their understanding of composition and visual expression.
Faculty Panel Evaluates Entries
Prof. Sadanand Pandey, Professor; Dr. Kamal Chandel, Assistant Professor; and Dr. Sharmishtha, Assistant Professor, formed the judging panel.
The faculty members assessed the entries based on creativity, originality, composition and how well each photograph matched its theme.
Raghav won first position, while Shivam secured second place and Sukhleen finished third. The college awarded medals and certificates to the winners and certificates of participation to all contestants.
Club Encourages Creative Expression
The competition gave students an opportunity to explore photography beyond technical skills. It encouraged them to observe their surroundings, find meaningful moments and communicate ideas through images.
With initiatives such as ‘Pixels with Purpose’, the Precious Pixels Club aims to nurture emerging photographic talent and promote creative expression among MERI College students.
