The Bollywood mentor showers praise on the rising star as she steps into the spotlight opposite Vikrant Massey in a Ruskin Bond adaptation.

Renowned filmmaker Karan Johar has extended a warm welcome to Shanaya Kapoor as she gears up for her big Bollywood debut in Aankhon Ki Gustakhiyan, hitting cinemas on July 11. The romantic drama, directed by Santosh Singh, is based on Ruskin Bond’s beloved short story The Eyes Have It and features Shanaya opposite acclaimed actor Vikrant Massey.
Taking to Instagram, Johar shared an emotional message reminiscing about his long-standing bond with Shanaya’s parents, Sanjay and Maheep Kapoor. He praised the young actress as “exceptionally hard-working” and expressed his admiration for the values instilled in her by her family.Johar also shared a sentimental story as he mentioned that he had the honour of naming Shanaya’s younger brother, Jahaan.
Aankhon Ki Gustakhiyan, co-produced by Zee Studios and Mini Films will have a tough time at the box office with competition from Maalik, Superman and Udaipur Files. So far, the pre-release buzz is good, with actors like Aparshakti Khurana already praising Shanaya’s performance, a good sign for a new star.
