MatCare Varanasi Starts Ayushman Bharat Scheme, Offers Free NICU and PICU Care

Ayushman Bharat beneficiaries can now avail free admission and specialised newborn care at MatCare Maternity & Child Hospital in Varanasi.

Varanasi: MatCare Maternity & Child Hospital has introduced the Ayushman Bharat Scheme at its Varanasi hospital, allowing eligible patients to access specialised healthcare services under the scheme. The initiative includes free admission, NICU care and PICU services for newborns, as per applicable eligibility and scheme provisions.

The move is aimed at making advanced neonatal and paediatric healthcare in Varanasi more accessible to families. It will provide financial support to eligible beneficiaries who require specialised medical care for newborns, including premature and critically ill babies.

Ayushman Bharat Benefits at MatCare Hospital

Under the initiative, eligible patients can access MatCare’s specialised NICU and PICU facilities. The hospital said the scheme will help families access timely medical intervention and specialist-led care without the financial burden associated with such treatment, subject to the terms of the Ayushman Bharat Scheme.

The launch event was graced by Dr. Dayashankar Mishra (Dyalu), Ayush Khadya Suraksha and Aushadhi Prashasan Rajya Mantri, Uttar Pradesh Sarkar, as the Chief Guest.

The event was attended by Dr. R. V. Singh, Medical Superintendent, MatCare Varanasi; Dr. Sunil Yadav, Centre Head; Dr. Nimisha Singh, Head of Paediatrics; and Dr. Abhijeet Roy, Head of Neonatology.

Free Specialised Newborn Care for Eligible Families

The introduction of the scheme is expected to benefit families seeking specialised treatment for newborns. MatCare’s Level III NICU provides specialised care for premature, critically ill and high-risk newborns.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Dayashankar Mishra (Dyalu) said the initiative would help bring quality and specialised healthcare closer to people who need it. He emphasised the importance of ensuring safe and attentive care for every newborn, irrespective of the family’s financial circumstances.

Dr. Nikhil Yadav, CEO, MatCare, said the hospital’s vision is to make quality women and child healthcare more accessible and compassionate. He said the launch of the Ayushman Bharat Scheme in Varanasi is an important step towards extending specialised PICU and NICU care to eligible patients.

Dr. Nimisha Singh, Head of Paediatrics, said specialised paediatric and neonatal care is important for newborns who require additional medical support. She added that the hospital hopes the scheme will help more children receive timely treatment.

Dr. Abhijeet Roy, Head of Neonatology, said a well-equipped NICU and attentive clinical care are essential for newborns requiring intensive medical support. He highlighted the hospital’s Level III NICU and said the Ayushman Bharat Scheme would help extend specialised neonatal care to more eligible families across Varanasi.
