Ceremony commemorates Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s legacy, ideas and values of public service, democratic dialogue and nation-building
NEW DELHI: The Atal Foundation hosted the ‘Atal Samman Samaroh 2026’ on Monday at the auditorium of the Prime Ministers’ Museum, Teen Murti Bhavan, New Delhi, commemorating the legacy, ideas and values of public service associated with former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee. The ceremony honoured distinguished individuals who have made notable contributions to public life, social service, nation-building and various other fields.
The event was attended by former Union Minister and member of the BJP Parliamentary Board Dr. Satyanarayan Jatiya, Chief Patron of the Atal Foundation and former National Vice-President of the Bharatiya Janata Party Shri Shyam Jaju, former Rajya Sabha MP and former National Vice-President of the BJP Shri Avinash Rai Khanna, among other distinguished guests.
Atal Foundation National President Smt. Aparna Singh said, “The Atal Samman Samaroh aims to recognise individuals who have made significant contributions to society and the nation in their respective fields. Atal Ji’s legacy is not limited to his political life; carrying forward his ideas and the values he represented in public life is equally important.”
Dr. Satyanarayan Jatiya said, “Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ji’s life remains an example of public service, democratic values and dedication to the national interest. Honouring individuals who have contributed to society in his name is a meaningful effort to carry forward his ideas and values.”
Shri Shyam Jaju said, “Atal Ji always placed dignity in public life, dialogue and the national interest at the forefront. It is important not only to remember his ideals but also to incorporate them into our work and conduct.”
Shri Avinash Rai Khanna said, “Atal Ji’s personality and public life continue to inspire generations. Recognising those who make positive contributions to society encourages the spirit of service and nation-building.”
The ceremony honoured individuals from various fields with the Atal Alankar Award, International Atal Award, Atal Bhushan Award and National Atal Award.
The Atal Alankar Award was presented to Shri Bidyapati Shri Narsingha Patimohapatra from Puri, Odisha, Smt. Komalben Savaliya and Dr. Pooja Tomar.
The International Atal Award was presented to Shri Avanish Singh Visen, Director & CEO, DCJ Group; Smt. Priyanka Madamachi; Shri Pema Wangchuk, Founding CEO, Zhabto Infra Limited; Shri Chandresh Shivlal Makasna; and Dr. Abhinav Garg.
The Atal Bhushan Award was presented to Dr. A.P.S. Suri, Shri Gauri Shanker Pandey, Shri Pradeep Kumar Monga and Shri Sumit Aacharya.
The National Atal Award was presented to Shri Vinod Kumar, IAS, Uttar Pradesh Secretariat.
The ceremony was attended by Shri Ankit Rathi, International Chief Advisor, Atal Foundation; Smt. Krishna Rathi, distinguished guest; Shri Avanish Singh Visen, Director & CEO, DCJ Group;chandrshree tomaroffice-bearers of the Foundation; representatives from the social sector; and other distinguished guests.
The speakers remembered Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ji’s public life, democratic values, commitment to the nation and emphasis on dialogue in public life. They said that Vajpayee Ji’s approach to public life continues to inspire values of service, good governance, democratic dialogue and commitment to the national interest.
The Atal Foundation said that recognising individuals who contribute to positive change in society is an important initiative to inspire young people and future generations towards public service and nation-building.
The ceremony concluded with a remembrance of Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ji’s ideals, his dedication to the nation and his contribution to public life.
