Dr. K.A. Paul Condemns Attack on Chief Justice of India, Urges Immediate Legal Action and Strengthened Judicial Security

Global Peace Initiative founder stresses the need for strict accountability, re-arrest of the accused, and urgent review of security protocols to safeguard India’s judiciary and public trust.

New Delhi, October 8, 2025:

Dr. K.A. Paul, founder of the Global Peace Initiative, has strongly condemned the recent assault on Chief Justice of India, Justice Gavai, inside the Supreme Court premises. The attack, which took place in broad daylight, has raised serious concerns regarding the security of India’s judiciary and the rule of law.

At a press briefing, Dr. Paul expressed deep concern over reports that the accused, Senior Advocate Rakesh Kishore (71), was released within three hours of the incident. “If the Chief Justice of India is not secure, how can ordinary citizens, youth, and the general public feel safe?” he questioned.

Dr. Paul emphasized that justice must remain impartial and equal for everyone, irrespective of social standing, education, or caste. He criticized the swift release of the accused, questioning whether it was influenced by external pressures or special interests. “No individual, no matter how influential, can be above the law. Firm legal action is essential to maintain public confidence in the judiciary,” he said.

Stressing the gravity of the situation, Dr. Paul warned that failure to hold the perpetrator accountable could embolden similar attacks and promote extremist behavior. He called on law enforcement authorities and the judiciary to ensure that the accused is promptly re-arrested and prosecuted under applicable laws, ensuring complete accountability.

Dr. Paul also appealed to the Union Home Ministry to immediately review security protocols for India’s highest judicial officials. “The protection of judges is critical for the smooth functioning of democracy and safeguarding constitutional rights,” he stated.

Concluding his remarks, Dr. Paul urged citizens to unite in defending the dignity, authority, and safety of the judiciary. “The Chief Justice represents not only the legal system but also the trust of millions of Indians. Securing this office is equivalent to protecting India’s democracy itself,” he added.
