Gangrape in Moving Ambulance in Gaya: Woman Collapses During Home Guard Test, Assaulted While Unconscious

Patna: A deeply disturbing and shameful incident has come to light from Gaya district in Bihar, where a 26-year-old woman participating in a Home Guard recruitment drive was allegedly gangraped in a moving ambulance after she fainted during the physical test. The incident reportedly occurred while she was in an unconscious or semi-conscious state.

The crime took place on July 24 at the Bihar Military Police Ground in Bodh Gaya, where a physical test was underway as part of the recruitment process. During the test, the woman suddenly collapsed. Organizers immediately arranged for her to be taken to the hospital using an ambulance stationed at the venue.

The woman later alleged that while she was in a semi-conscious state inside the ambulance, 3–4 individuals raped her. After regaining some awareness, she informed both police officials and hospital staff about the incident.

Based on her complaint, an FIR was filed at the Bodh Gaya police station. Acting swiftly, the police deployed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) and a forensic team to probe the matter. Within hours, two suspects—ambulance driver Vinay Kumar and technician Ajit Kumar—were arrested. Interrogation is currently underway.

Police confirmed that CCTV footage from the site and surrounding routes was crucial in tracking the vehicle’s movement and verifying the timeline of events.

The incident sparked political outrage. Opposition leader and senior RJD figure Tejashwi Yadav launched a scathing attack on both the central and state governments. Tagging Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, he wrote:

Tejashwi Yadav’s statement stirred political circles and resonated with growing public anger over the incident.

Meanwhile, Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party (Ramvilas) chief Chirag Paswan strongly condemned the crime. He said,

“The way crime is rising in Bihar clearly shows that the administration has surrendered before criminals. This incident is shocking, but the real question is — why do such crimes keep recurring?”

He further added,

“Some may call this an attempt to defame the government, but maintaining law and order is the administration’s responsibility. If this continues, the situation will grow more dangerous — in fact, it already has.”

Police are continuing their in-depth investigation. The victim has undergone a medical examination, and further proceedings are underway.
