Venkateswara College Students Launch Assam Flood Relief Drive, Acharya Dharmveer Calls for Support to Flood-Affected Families
New Delhi: Delhi University students and members of the Northeast community have launched a humanitarian campaign to assist families affected by the severe floods in Assam. The initiative has been started by the Northeast Students’ Association of Venkateswara College, Delhi University, with support from Yug Sanskriti Nyas.
The campaign aims to mobilise students, Gen Z youth, volunteers, social organisations and citizens for Assam flood relief.
Assam Flood Relief Campaign Begins in Delhi
The initiative comes amid continuing challenges caused by flooding in Assam, where relief and rehabilitation efforts are being carried out in affected areas.
Northeast students studying in Delhi have joined hands with young people and members of the wider community to support families affected by the crisis. The campaign will collect essential supplies and encourage wider public participation.
Key relief items include:
- Food and other essential supplies
- Packaged drinking water
- Medicines
- Hygiene products
- Clothing
- Other daily necessities
The organisers are also seeking support from Northeast community members in Delhi, student organisations, social groups, volunteers, businesses and concerned citizens.
Acharya Dharmveer Supports Relief Initiative
Acharya Dharmveer, founder of Yug Sanskriti Nyas, has supported the initiative and appealed to people across the country to contribute to Assam flood relief efforts.
He said Assam is an integral part of the national family and that practical assistance is important when families are facing difficult circumstances. He also highlighted the potential of youth participation in making humanitarian campaigns more effective.
According to him, the impact of a contribution should not be judged simply by its size. Instead, collective participation and the commitment to helping affected families are crucial.
Delhi Youth Express Solidarity With Assam
Devayani Lama, President of the Venkateswara College Northeast Students’ Association and a third-year Political Science student, said students want to support people in Assam during the crisis.
She said students may have limited resources, but working together can help create a meaningful impact.
Priyanka Dole, Vice President of the association and a third-year History student, said even a small contribution can provide hope to families affected by the floods.
Anindita Ray, Cultural Secretary and a third-year History student, said cultural connections become stronger during times of crisis. She said the students want to transform their concern for Assam into meaningful assistance.
Anish Bhagwati, an Advisory Committee member and third-year Sociology student, said young people have an important role to play in humanitarian relief and community service.
Relief Supplies to Be Collected and Distributed
The campaign will prioritise collecting essential materials such as food, packaged water, medicines, hygiene products and clothing.
Organisers said the materials will be directed towards affected areas with the support of local volunteers and suitable relief networks. The focus will be on coordinating efforts so that assistance can reach people who need it.
Beyond relief collection, the campaign also seeks to encourage social responsibility among students and young people in Delhi.
Gen Z and Northeast Community Join Relief Effort
The campaign brings together Gen Z youth, Delhi University students and members of the Northeast community for a common humanitarian cause.
Organisers believe that youth participation can help expand the reach of the relief effort while encouraging a culture of volunteering and social responsibility.
Acharya Dharmveer has appealed to people to contribute according to their means, emphasising that every contribution can help a family affected by the floods.

Under the message “Service, Unity and National Solidarity,” the initiative seeks to strengthen humanitarian support for Assam while deepening the social and emotional connection between Delhi and the Northeast.
