Green Marathon on Wheels Embarks on Delhi-Ayodhya Journey with a Call for Fitness, Sustainability and a Drug-Free Society

Under the leadership of Dr. Sunita Godara, the campaign invites citizens to take the pledge for a healthier, drug-free nation and become active participants in the movement.

New Delhi: The Delhi-to-Ayodhya Green Marathon on Wheels commenced on Wednesday from the Constitution Club of India, New Delhi, drawing participation from citizens, youth and supporters of fitness and environmental conservation in a collective call for a greener and addiction-free India.

The initiative is being carried forward under the Government of India’s flagship programme, Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. Through this campaign, Health Fitness Trust, founded by Asian Marathon Gold Medalist Dr. Sunita Godara, is actively engaging youth, civilians and college students, encouraging them to become Nasha Mukti Mitras through registration using the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment’s QR code platform. The Delhi-to-Ayodhya journey marks the first phase of the Green Marathon on Wheels campaign, which will subsequently be expanded across the country to connect communities and spread the message of fitness, environmental responsibility and a drug-free lifestyle.

The Green Marathon on Wheels is being led by Health Fitness Trust (Founder: Dr. Sunita Godara) in collaboration with the Indo European Chamber of Small & Medium Enterprises (IECSME) and Asha Global Trust. The initiative aims to spread awareness about fitness, environmental conservation and the importance of building a substance-free society.

The programme began with a gathering of participants at the Constitution Club, where attendees interacted with fellow supporters and reaffirmed their commitment to social and environmental causes. Before the departure of the rally, participants took a collective pledge for a Nasha Mukt Bharat, underscoring the campaign’s message of healthy living and responsible citizenship. Students and participants were also presented with medals and certificates of participation.

The marathon on wheels commenced its journey towards Ayodhya following the flag-off ceremony, carrying messages of environmental conservation, public health awareness and youth empowerment. Several participants joined the campaign for different stages of the journey, while many others extended their support during the flag-off event.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Sunita Godara said, “The Green Marathon on Wheels is more than a journey from Delhi to Ayodhya; it is a movement to inspire people to embrace fitness, protect the environment and stay away from substance abuse. Through this initiative, we aim to spread the message that a healthy nation is built by healthy citizens.”

Organisers said the initiative seeks to encourage greater public participation in environmental protection, physical fitness and anti-drug awareness campaigns. They expressed confidence that the journey would inspire communities along the route to adopt healthier lifestyles and contribute towards building a cleaner, greener and addiction-free India.
