India’s Largest Publishing Delegation to Be Led by FIP at the 35th International Publishers Congress 2026 in Kuala Lumpur
New Delhi: India is set to make a strong presence at the 35th International Publishers Congress (IPC 2026) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, with the Federation of Indian Publishers (FIP) leading one of the country’s largest publishing delegations from 5–9 July 2026. Representing India’s publishing sector as the nation’s only member of the International Publishers Association (IPA), FIP will participate in global conversations on artificial intelligence, copyright, digital innovation, rights trading, and the evolving future of publishing.
The International Publishers Association (IPA), Geneva, and the Malaysian Book Publishers Association (MABOPA) are jointly organising IPC 2026, which will bring together publishers, authors, technology innovators, policymakers, rights professionals and industry leaders from around the world. Under the theme “Publishing Intelligence, Sustaining Forward,” the Congress will examine how publishers can harness artificial intelligence, data-driven decision-making and emerging technologies while safeguarding creativity, copyright, sustainability, inclusivity and the freedom to publish.
FIP has brought together a distinguished delegation representing educational, academic, trade, professional, children’s, digital, technology-driven and public-sector publishing. The delegation reflects India’s expanding role in the global publishing ecosystem and its growing contribution to international conversations on publishing policy, innovation and cross-border collaboration.
India will also feature prominently in the Congress programme through two high-level speaking engagements. Mr. Pranav Gupta, Vice President of the Federation of Indian Publishers and Chair of the IPA Data & Statistics Committee, will speak on 6 July during the session “Gateway to South-East Asia: Entry Paths, Pitfalls & Payoffs,” where he will discuss market-entry strategies, rights trading, cross-border partnerships and business opportunities across Southeast Asia.
On 7 July, Shri Yuvraj Malik, Director of the National Book Trust, India, Ministry of Education, will participate in the session “Beyond the Booth: How Book Fairs Become Year-Round Growth Engines.” He will highlight how modern book fairs can evolve beyond exhibitions into year-round platforms for reader engagement, publishing promotion, cultural diplomacy, digital outreach and sustainable business growth.
The Indian delegation comprises publishing leaders, innovators, policymakers and industry professionals representing the breadth of India’s publishing ecosystem. The delegates include Senthilnathan Sambandan, Ilangoven Appasamy Chinnaswamy, Vishal Dani, Amit Chavan, Manish Jain, Ramesh K. Mittal, Vijaya Kumar Dhupati, Praveen Singh, Monica Malhotra Kandhari, A.T.B. Bose, Prof. Milind Sudhakar Marathe, Yuvraj Malik, Kumar Vikram, Mayank Surolia, Vikrant Mathur, Subrahmanian Seshadri, Pushpita Ghosh, Pallavi Ghosh, Aditi Ghosh, Pranav Gupta, Bharath Sundaram, Sarath Kakumanu and Arjun Chaudhuri.
Mr. Pranav Gupta, Vice President, Federation of Indian Publishers, and Chair of the IPA Data & Statistics Committee, said, “The International Publishers Congress is the publishing industry’s most important global platform. As artificial intelligence, digital transformation, copyright, sustainability and freedom to publish reshape our industry, India must actively contribute to these conversations. We are proud to lead one of the largest Indian publishing delegations ever to an IPA Congress. The delegation reflects the scale, diversity and growing global confidence of Indian publishing. India is no longer just a market of immense potential—it is becoming a strategic partner in the global knowledge economy.”
Ms. Pushpita Ghosh, Secretary General, Federation of Indian Publishers, said, “The remarkable size and diversity of the Indian delegation reflects the increasingly global outlook of Indian publishers. From educational and academic publishing to trade, children’s books, digital content and emerging technologies, Indian publishers are helping shape the future of the industry. IPC 2026 offers an outstanding opportunity to build partnerships, exchange ideas and showcase the innovation, resilience and creativity that define Indian publishing today.”
The Congress will create new opportunities for dialogue, international rights trading, knowledge exchange and business collaboration. As publishing leaders from across the world gather in Kuala Lumpur, FIP and the Indian delegation will showcase India’s publishing expertise, technological innovation and growing leadership in the global knowledge economy.
