Meeting Highlights Enhanced Partnership with Ministry of Tribal Affairs to Promote Tribal Development and Sustainable Livelihoods
New Delhi: Shri Aji Krishnan, Founder-Secretary of HRDS INDIA, met Union Minister for Tribal Affairs Shri Jual Oram in New Delhi and handed over a comprehensive report highlighting the organisation’s humanitarian and reconstruction work linked to Operation Sindoor.
Report Highlights Relief and Reconstruction Efforts
The report contains photographs and detailed accounts of HRDS INDIA’s interventions, including efforts to reconstruct damaged homes and provide assistance to vulnerable and tribal families in Jammu & Kashmir and other affected areas.
The meeting also provided an opportunity to discuss HRDS INDIA’s wider work in tribal welfare, rural development and disaster relief. Over the past three decades, the organisation has implemented programmes covering housing, education, healthcare, skill development and livelihood generation in Kerala, Jharkhand, Assam, Tripura and other parts of the country.
In Jammu & Kashmir, HRDS INDIA has been involved in rebuilding thousands of damaged houses and extending assistance to families facing the impact of floods and other emergencies, including humanitarian activities associated with Operation Sindoor.
Minister Backs Greater Cooperation with HRDS INDIA
Appreciating the organisation’s work at the grassroots level, Union Minister Jual Oram said civil society organisations can play a significant role in strengthening government initiatives related to tribal welfare, housing and community development. He also expressed willingness to encourage continued cooperation between HRDS INDIA and the Ministry of Tribal Affairs.
Aji Krishnan reiterated HRDS INDIA’s commitment to empowering vulnerable communities and creating pathways towards long-term self-reliance.
“HRDS INDIA believes true nation-building begins with securing the homes and futures of vulnerable communities, especially tribal families. Operation Sindoor’s humanitarian efforts have helped us support families facing adversity. Our goal is to provide not just shelter, but also hope and self-reliance,” he said.
The discussions also focused on deeper collaboration in tribal settlements. Key areas included basic infrastructure, indigenous knowledge and sustainable livelihood opportunities.
HRDS INDIA continues to work in tribal and remote regions. Its initiatives focus on quality housing, women’s empowerment, education and natural-resource-based livelihoods, including the Sadhgraha initiative.
