New Delhi: Students at Management Education and Research Institute (MERI), Janakpuri, took part in an awareness initiative on cybercrime, drug abuse and legal responsibilities organised in collaboration with the Delhi Police, West District, on Monday.
Rangbhoomi, the Theatre Club of MERI, organised the programme under the guidance of Prof. Lalit Aggarwal, Vice President, MERI Group of Institutions. The event focused on creating awareness among students about cyber threats, substance abuse, legal safeguards and responsible decision-making.
The programme featured a street play by MERI students, which highlighted common situations involving online fraud, unsafe digital behaviour and substance abuse. The performance used relatable examples to explain the potential risks and encouraged students to seek help from the appropriate authorities when required.
The event was attended by Insp. Vikas Kumar Buldak, SHO, Cyber Crime; Insp. Amit Dhani, Inspector, Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF); and Assistant Sub-Inspector Lokendra Singh Kushwah, DCP Office, Janakpuri, as Guests of Honour.
The Delhi Police officials interacted with the students and helped them understand the challenges associated with cybercrime and substance abuse. The discussion also highlighted the legal mechanisms available to protect individuals and report wrongdoing.
The initiative encouraged students to stay cautious while using digital platforms, avoid substance abuse and develop greater awareness of their rights and responsibilities.
Through the programme, MERI and the Delhi Police highlighted the importance of cyber safety, drug prevention and legal awareness among young people.
