Jaipur Greater Municipal Corporation Mayor Dr. Somya Gurjar paid a courtesy visit to Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Tuesday, engaging in an in-depth discussion on Jaipur’s development and recent GST-2 reforms.
Dr. Gurjar apprised the Finance Minister of the city’s ongoing improvement works, noting the significant focus on urban beautification and infrastructure enhancement at the local body level. She emphasized that the GST-2 framework has contributed to a more favorable economic climate in Rajasthan, offering ease and tangible benefits to both the general public and the business community.
During the interaction, Dr. Gurjar also reflected on her administrative experience as Mayor of Jaipur Greater, sharing insights into governance practices and key achievements under her tenure. She highlighted the financial challenges faced by urban local bodies in Rajasthan and underscored the need for stronger fiscal support and structural reforms.
Concluding the meeting, Dr. Gurjar presented Sitharaman with “Mera Jaipur Greater,” a coffee-table book illustrating the major initiatives and accomplishments of the Jaipur Greater Municipal Corporation.
