Indore Retains India’s Cleanest City Title for 8th Year in a Row

Surat and Navi Mumbai Follow in 2025 Swachh Survekshan Rankings; Noida Leads in Mid-Si ze City Category

New Delhi: 17 July 2025

Indore has once again set the gold standard in urban cleanliness, clinching the title of India’s Cleanest City for the eighth consecutive year in the Swachh Survekshan 2025 rankings, announced by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.

President Droupadi Murmu presented the prestigious awards at a ceremony in New Delhi, where Union Minister Manohar Lal was also present. Surat and Navi Mumbai took the second and third positions on the national rankings of cleanliness, which is helping define western India as a leading area in sanitation quality.

Of cities with populations between 3 to 10 lakh, Noida is cleanest, but Chandigarh and Mysuru are close competitors.

Indore’s further dominance comes from industry leading waste management systems, innovative models like door to door segregated waste collection, and committed participation from its citizenry. So it is already showing its national reputation as a model for cleanliness and sustainability for all of India.
