Junior World Squash Champion Anahat Singh Explores Teej Mela at Bikaner House

New Delhi: India’s young squash star Anahat Singh, who is ranked World No. 1 in junior squash, visited the Teej Mela hosted at Bikaner House in New Delhi on Tuesday. She took a close look at Rajasthan’s traditional lifestyle and cultural heritage, including folk art, handicrafts, traditional outfits and local cuisine.

Anahat interacted with artists and artisans at the fair and showed interest in their work and craftsmanship. She also presented awards to children who secured top positions in competitions held during the event.

Anahat Encourages Youth to Take Up Sports

During her interaction with young visitors, Anahat encouraged them to make sports a part of their routine while continuing their studies. She said sports contribute to better health and discipline and can help young people achieve recognition for the country.

Principal Resident Commissioner Rohit Kumar said Anahat’s visit added to the appeal of the cultural event. He noted that the squash champion, the first Indian player to win the junior world championship, particularly appreciated Rajasthan’s diverse folk traditions and traditional art forms.

Rohit Kumar said events such as the Teej Mela play an important role in preserving cultural traditions and introducing them to younger generations. They also provide artists and artisans with an opportunity to showcase Rajasthan’s heritage to people across India and internationally.

Aman Nath and Neeraman Hotels CEO Join Celebrations

The Teej Mela saw a large gathering on Tuesday evening, with visitors enjoying folk performances and encouraging participants in various competitions.

Aman Nath from the Neeraman Group and the CEO of Neeraman Hotels also visited the event. They honoured artists and competition winners with awards and wished them success.

They said organising Rajasthan-themed cultural events in the national capital helps showcase the state’s rich heritage to audiences in India and overseas. Such events not only promote traditional art and handicrafts but also create valuable platforms for artists and artisans.

They added that the Neeraman Group would continue to support the Rajasthan government’s initiatives for promoting the state’s art, culture and heritage.
